Spanish cedar is a beautiful creamy orange colored wood. It has a lovely almost metallic looking sheen to it that shimmers in the light and a bold grain pattern of little dashes that run all along the flute in a slightly darker color. The wood has a wonderful smell to it as well that comes through the varnish. Traditionally this wood has been used to make cigar boxes from because it imparts a desirable flavor onto the cigars. I have no first-hand experience with this because I don't smoke cigars but the flutes are lovely to play. If you are highly sensitive to smells this might not be a good choice for you. The wood lends a soft and soothing quality to the voice of the flutes.

I have reduced the price of this flute for a minor flaw. The glue seam is visible on this flute. Take a look at the pictures before buying.

This wood is FSC certified.  FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
