Fingering Charts for the Native American Style Flute

Here is our complication of our universal fingering chart, and the fingering charts for each key of flute. Scroll down to find your key and follow along with the pictures to see what note you are playing!

How To Read The Fingering Charts

The finger charts below should be read from left to right. In the flutes represented, the blackened holes are covered.

-The shaded columns show the basic Pentatonic Minor scale which is the most common scale played on this style of flute.

-The asterisks * represent the Diatonic Major scale which is another very familiar scale and common in many songs.

-If you play all every column you are playing the Chromatic Scale.

The last three notes shown require you to overblow the flute to reach a few notes in the higher octave. Not all flutes will play these notes. Overblowing means blowing into the flute hard enough that it jumps into a higher octave.
