One of my favorite flutes of the recently uploaded batch, this problem baby had so many different flaws, and despite all of it it sounds the best of any of the flutes uploaded in my opinion. Its voice is full and resonant. It has quite a few flaws so the price has been reduced a lot. It has filled bug holes on the backside, a stabilized crack, a misshapen fingering hole, and to top it all off it got away from me on the lathe and the wall thickness is quite thin. So this is a delicate flute. I suspect if you take this flute home it will be your new favorite though regardless of all the flaws.

Measurements

The low D is about 26 inches long with a 1 1/8 inch bore diameter. It’s about 11 ¼ inches from the mouth end to the middle of the first fingering hole, and the fingering holes are 1 ¼ inches apart from center to center but are clustered in groups of three to make them easier to play. There is a nearly a 2 inch gap between the top three holes and the bottom three holes.

Is This The Right Flute For Me?

Native American style flutes in the key of low D

Native American style flutes in the key of D have a very deep and resonant voice. They are larger around then out E flutes, with a 1 1/8 inch bore diameter. The fingering holes are clustered in groups of three to make them easier to play, but this key of flute is still better suited for someone with some flute playing experience.
