This flute is made from a rich red piece of western red cedar. The wood is light in weight and lends a resonant quality to the flute. You can feel the vibrations in your hands as you play. Its voice is deep and soulful.
The low D is about 26 inches long with a 1 1/8 inch bore diameter. It’s about 11 ¼ inches from the mouth end to the middle of the first fingering hole, and the fingering holes are 1 ¼ inches apart from center to center but are clustered in groups of three to make them easier to play. There is a nearly a 2 inch gap between the top three holes and the bottom three holes.

Native American style flutes in the key of D have a very deep and resonant voice. They are larger around then out E flutes, with a 1 1/8 inch bore diameter. The fingering holes are clustered in groups of three to make them easier to play, but this key of flute is still better suited for someone with some flute playing experience.
