This beautiful dark brown flute is made out of American black walnut. This particular piece has a lovely light streak that runs from the side onto the back o the flute and adds contrast and interest to the grain. The flutes voice is deep and strong.
The low D is about 26 inches long with a 1 1/8 inch bore diameter. It’s about 11 ¼ inches from the mouth end to the middle of the first fingering hole, and the fingering holes are 1 ¼ inches apart from center to center but are clustered in groups of three to make them easier to play. There is a nearly a 2 inch gap between the top three holes and the bottom three holes.

Native American style flutes in the key of D have a very deep and resonant voice. They are larger around then out E flutes, with a 1 1/8 inch bore diameter. The fingering holes are clustered in groups of three to make them easier to play, but this key of flute is still better suited for someone with some flute playing experience.
