Our flute carving kits are fully tuned and playable, square, western red cedar Native American style flutes. Follow the included PDF lesson plans and video tutorials to carve, sand, and finish the flutes and learn to play them.

Students of all ages will enjoy using simple carving tools and sandpaper (not included) to shape, sand , and finish these softwood flute carving kits. The process is a wonderful, beginner friendly, introduction into woodworking. The second part of the lesson plan includes information on how the flute functions and guides the class through the basics of playing this wonderful instrument.
Students will leave the class with a since of pride in having hand crafted a concert quality instrument. With the student PDF guide to playing their flutes at home which touches on many of the in class lessons, they will have all the information they need to be successful flute payers long after class has ended.
This instrument is not only joyful and fun to play, but it can be a powerful tool for calming the spirit and soothing the players nerves, benefiting the participants for years to come.
Our Native American style flute carving kits have been used by Tribes, schools and groups for the last decade to bring communities together, educate, and aid in PTSD and addiction recovery. We decided it was time to offer a specialized package designed just for that purpose.

Flute key and age of participants
Which flute package to choose for your group
We offer two packages, one in the key of A which is a smaller sized flute and one in the key of G which is a little larger.
I recommend the key of A package for 9-10 year olds or for adults with smaller hands, or older adults with arthritis.
The key of G is suitable for everyone else. You will likely find that children and teens have better hand and finger flexibility than adults.
Don't read music? Not a problem!
Why are these flutes ideal entry level instruments?
This simple and beautiful instrument is ideal for any level of musical skill from an absolute beginner to a world renowned performer. The 5 note pentatonic minor scale can be learned without the need to read music and once it is mastered the notes can be played in any order to create beautiful and original songs from the heart.
The flute is not limited by the 5 note scale, it can play the familiar diatonic (major scale) and a full chromatic scale. With the included fingering chart, each student can advance at their own pace.
