Redwood Native American style bass B flute -#3028

$505.00

This flute is made from an ancient piece of reclaimed redwood that was taken from a deconstructed bridge. Redwood is a light weight softwood which lends a resonant quality to the voice that you can feel in the flute as you play. This flute was drilled with seven fingering holes by accident! oops! Sometimes mistakes are beautiful though and in this case we were able to add a decorative turquoise filling to the flute. This is a big flute and will be better suited for someone with prior flute playing experience.

Please note that three of the four direction holes at the foot of the flute were filled with black resin to adjust the tuning while the flute was being made, please don't' try to remove this!

Remember to scroll through the photos to find a video of this flute being played!

Bass B Native American style flutes, sometimes called low B flutes, are more advanced due to their size. This is the lowest key of flute we currently make. It has a deep and full voice with a soothing rich tone. I recommend this key for people who have experience playing Native flute already or have experience with other instruments that require the fingers and hands to be stretched, such as piano, guitar, or other woodwind instruments.

This 6 hole flute is tuned the universal standard 440 hz concert tuning and features a pentatonic minor scale ( the most common scale for modern Native American flutes). With the guidance of the booklet, you can learn to play many other scales on this flute which make use of all 6 holes.

Measurements

This flute is 29 3/4 inches long with a 1 1/4 inch bore diameter. It's 13 inches from the mouth end to the center of the first fingering hole. The fingering holes are clustered in sets of three to make them easier to play, with the first set being spaced 1 1/4 inches apart center to center and the second set being 1 1/2 inches apart center to center. there is a 2 inch gap between the first cluster of holes and the second.
