This flute is made from a stunning, highly spalted piece of maple. Spalting is a process that happens when mycelium from mushrooms gets into the wood . It creates dark lines and more color to appear in the wood. This wood is so packed full of color, it looks like a painting. Maple is a hard wood, but spalting softens the wood a bit. This 6 hole flute is tuned the universal standard 440 hz concert tuning and features a pentatonic minor scale ( the most common scale for modern Native American flutes). With the guidance of the booklet, you can learn to play many other scales on this flute which make use of all 6 holes.
