Figured Port Orford cedar Native American style bass B flute -#3129

$485.00

This flute is made from one of my favorite woods, figured Port Orford cedar. This dense softwood has a nice substantial feeling weight and a smooth finish. It is bright yellow in color with a lovely wave like grain pattern that moves and changes in the light. The best thing about this wood is the lovely smell. You can catch a whiff of it as you play the flute. To me it smells like some wonderful spice, a bit lemony. This flute has an exceptional voice, rich and full. This is a big flute and will be better suited for someone with prior flute playing experience.

Three of the four direction holes were filled with black resin to improve the tuning, please don't try to remove it!

Bass B Native American style flutes, sometimes called low B flutes, are more advanced due to their size. This is the lowest key of flute we currently make. It has a deep and full voice with a soothing rich tone. I recommend this key for people who have experience playing Native flute already or have experience with other instruments that require the fingers and hands to be stretched, such as piano, guitar, or other woodwind instruments.

This 6 hole flute is tuned the universal standard 440 hz concert tuning and features a pentatonic minor scale ( the most common scale for modern Native American flutes). With the guidance of the booklet, you can learn to play many other scales on this flute which make use of all 6 holes.

This wood is FSC certified.  FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
