This flute is made from a piece of western red cedar that has had a home made natural stain applied to darken the wood. You can still see the bold wavy grain through the stain. The wood is soft and light in weight which gives the flute a resonant quality to the voice. It will dent easily though, so consider buying or making a bag to protect it.
This flute is 24 inches long with a 7/8 inch bore. The fingering holes are (from center to center) approximately 1 1/8 inch apart. The distance from the mouth end of the flute to the first finger hole is approximately 10 ¾ inches.

Native American style flutes in the key of F# have a low and soothing voice. They are a great key for beginners however might not be a good choice for someone with small hands. The fingering hole stretch is a little longer on and F# flute then it is on a G or an A flute.

Thank you very much for such an awesome flute. I'm very new to using a Native American flute, only about 4 weeks into it. I originally bought an inexpensive flute to see if I wanted to take it up and then after some time and a lot of research I decided to buy a Stellar flute. I absolutely made the right decision. A short learning curve and a little practice everyday is working very well for me. I now find myself perusing the other Stellar flutes that are available in different keys. I’m new to the Native American style flute, but do have some music background. I am impressed with the beautiful tone of the Basic flute, key of A and its simple but elegant look. My very experienced flute instructor gave me her seal of approval and said she would add Stellar flutes to her list of sources for good quality flutes.
The kit came quickly and thanks to the available videos I was able to finish it relatively quickly. The flute looks and sounds great. Now it's just up to me to learn how to play being that it's my first flute.
