This little flute is made from a piece of hickory. The wood has a lovely yellow color with an ash like grain. The grain adds a subtle texture to the flute. This is a very hard and durable wood. It would make an excellent backpacking flute. It has a bright and responsive voice.

Measurements

The High D is about 16 inches long with a 5/8 inch bore diameter. It’s about 8 1/8 inches from the mouth end to the middle of the first fingering hole, and the fingering holes are 5/8 of an inch apart from center to center.

Is This The Right Flute For Me?

Native American style flutes in the key of high D

Native American style flutes in the key of high D have a bright and responsive voice reminiscent of a songbird. These are our highest pitched and tiniest flutes that we currently make. You may not think that you would like a high-pitched flute but there is something so delightful about playing these flutes. The fingering holes are close together which can make them hard to play for people that have large fingers.

Our Guarantee

We offer free lifetime support and repairs on all of our flutes, and we are happy to exchange your flute if it isn't the right fit for you. Buy with confidence and start your flute playing journey today!

Stellar is the BEST!

I have loved EVERY quality flute I have purchased from Stellar Flutes—probably 50 or more over the past 25 years—and the flutes are always in perfect tuning and made with intention. Lily and the crew expedite shipping and make the ordering process seamless. Stellar Flutes offers amazing inventory at a more than fair price. Don’t hesitate ordering if you are on the fence. You will be glad you did!!!

Walnut Premiere NAsF Dm flute

I've been playing for just under a year (started in Mar, 2024). With this purchase, my collection now totals nine flutes from five different makers (two from Stellar). This Walnut Dm is my favorite of the bunch. My previous favorite was my other Stellar, an F# basic. What I'm saying is that Stellar makes a good flute. Even their basic flutes are better than other makers premium flutes. I don't think you could go wrong with a Stellar flute. They play like a dream. I'll be back for another when I see one that lights me up (I'm hoping they build another C bass flute in myrtle).

Beautiful D Flute

I love my lowD Stellar flute. Lily made my experience great from start to the time my flute arrived. As I wrote to Lily: “Thank you and Stellar Flutes for all you do to make the world a more beautiful place.

D Minor 440 Hz in Cherry

The Flute is really well made and the support I got from Lilly is awesome. The holes are little bit farther apart for me but , still reachable and that challenge also makes me ready for bigger bass flutes. I'm happy so far. Also, wish they had different fetish that would make it a bit exotic. The bird works fine..
