This flute is made from a beautiful dark red brown piece of western red cedar with a redwood spline. It truly has a rainbow of warm red browns and tans. The fingering holes on this drone are on the right hand side of the flute and the optional drone hole is on the left side which will make it easier for flute players who play with their left hand on the bottom to reach the optional drone hole. It features a patina copper plug for the optional hole. Its voice is smooth and warm with a lovely soft spoken quality to it.
This flute is 22 3/4 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide. It has a 7/8 inch bore diameter.
The first fingering hole is 10 1/2 inches down from the mouth end.
The fingering holes are spaced 1 inch apart center to center.

Native American Drone flutes, sometimes called "double" flutes, are just that, THey are two flutes that are joined together. One side player like a normal flute and the other side plays one or more harmony notes. All of our drones have two blowholes so you can play as a single flute or play both sides together. They also feature an optional drone side hole with an included decorative plug so you can have two different options for harmony notes.
Drone flutes are harder to play because they require more air (two slow air chambers!) and they are wider than normal native flutes. This flute would be best suited to someone who has a little experience playing Native flutes, or someone who has played other instruments.
