This stunning black walnut flute is my favorite of the recent batch upload.  Its voice is unparalleled with a deep and resonant quality that you can feel in your chest when you play. The wood grain has some figure to it and it shimmers and moves in the light.

Measurements

The low D is about 26 inches long with a 1 1/8 inch bore diameter. It’s about 11 ¼ inches from the mouth end to the middle of the first fingering hole, and the fingering holes are 1 ¼ inches apart from center to center but are clustered in groups of three to make them easier to play. There is a nearly a 2 inch gap between the top three holes and the bottom three holes.

Is This The Right Flute For Me?

Native American style flutes in the key of low D

Native American style flutes in the key of D have a very deep and resonant voice. They are larger around then out E flutes, with a 1 1/8 inch bore diameter. The fingering holes are clustered in groups of three to make them easier to play, but this key of flute is still better suited for someone with some flute playing experience.
