This flute is made from a stunning piece of highly figured port Orford cedar. The wood has a bright yellow color and an amazing erratic flame pattern with some areas of tight ripples and others of large, quilted waves. It shimmers and changes in the light. This is a medium weight softwood with a silky-smooth finish. It has a lovely strong aroma of spicy cedar and lemons. There are a few stabilized checks which is common with such figured woods. These are not structural and won’t affect the durability of the flute, but I want any buyer to be aware of them.
